- Essential definitions and terminology to help you interpret and audit ISO 14001 requirements
- The purpose, intent and key requirements of ISO 14001 and similarities with ISO 9001
- The contribution that audits make to the effectiveness of a management system
- The roles and responsibilities of an EMS auditor and lead auditor
- How to determine environmental aspects and impacts
- The importance and relevance of environmental aspects and impacts and environmental legislation
- How to plan your audits by developing effective checklists
- How to verify current practice conforms with defined requirements and ISO 14001
- That auditing for conformity can improve the stability and robustness of a management systems
- To gather objective evidence through observation, interviewing and reviewing documentation
- To report your findings accurately against the requirements of ISO 14001
- What corrective action is and who is responsible for taking action
- The certification requirements to become a registered auditor/lead auditor with IRCA
Pre-requisites:
- To have successfully completed an IRCA approved Lead Auditor course, or accepted equivalent if you wish to register as an EMS Auditor or Lead Auditor with IRCA. If you do not meet the above criteria, you need to attend our five day EMS Auditor/Lead Auditor course
- Extensive experience of auditing management systems
- Ideally to have attended our ISO 14001 Appreciation and Interpretation course
