The EFQM Excellence model was developed by the European Foundation for Quality Management in collaboration with hundreds of leading organisations and represents all the things an Excellent organisation needs to consider. It provides a comprehensive framework to assess not only what an organisation is achieving (the Results) but also how it is achieving this and where it can improve (the Enablers).
The model covers nine criteria: Leadership, Policy and Strategy, People, Partnerships and Resources, Processes, Customer Results, People Results, Society Results and Key Performance Results, with a strong emphasis on organisational learning.
The EFQM Excellence model is not another initiative but an holistic framework helping you to see where all the things you are doing fit, where you have gaps, disconnects and conflicts and to assess whether you are getting value for money from the approaches you are implementing. It fits well with other programmes you may be running such as IiP, ISO 9000, Charter Mark, Balanced Business Scorecard, Policy Deployment, Six Sigma or Customer Value Add.
It is also the model used as the basis for European, UK and Regional Excellence Awards as well as many other National Quality Awards across the world.
