Moore is a highly experienced Lean Six Sigma leader with over 25 years’ experience delivering large-scale performance improvement across global organisations. A former Motorola Master Black Belt, he has led award-winning improvement programmes and now serves as Director of Learning Solutions at Catalyst, shaping world-class capability development.

Professional Background

Moore began his career in advanced manufacturing at Digital Equipment Corporation before joining Motorola, where he held senior roles in process engineering and continuous improvement. His responsibilities spanned capacity planning, quality improvement, and new product introduction across complex, multinational environments.

Recent Experience

Recent work includes speaking at conferences for public sector and quality organisations, leading accelerated improvement projects for professional services firms, designing global process capability programmes for high-tech organisations, and developing Catalyst’s learning products including the Lean Process Simulation.

Lean Six Sigma Leadership

First certified as a Black Belt instructor in 1999, Moore has trained and coached hundreds of professionals at Green, Black, and Master Black Belt level. At Motorola, he led major Lean Six Sigma initiatives, delivering high-value improvement programmes, cross-site European projects, and contributing to global strategy development.

Major Achievements

One of Moore’s most significant achievements was leading a programme to improve site capability to 5.7 sigma, the highest performance globally at the time. This was achieved through the effective use of change management, process mapping, and advanced statistical improvement techniques.

Catalyst & Industry Roles

After leaving Motorola, Moore founded Six Sigma Scotland, worked as a Master Black Belt for Rath & Strong Management Consultants, and joined Catalyst in 2006. He is now Director of Learning Solutions, a leader of the British Quality Foundation’s Lean Six Sigma Academy, and a Quality Scotland Partner in Excellence.

Qualifications & Accreditation

Moore holds a BSc and PhD in Industrial Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast and is a qualified EFQM Assessor. His academic background underpins a practical, evidence-based approach to improvement, ensuring robust methodologies are applied effectively in complex organisational environments.

Moore has extensive international experience delivering training and consulting across Europe, Asia, North America, and the Middle East. He has worked with organisations across manufacturing, services, and the public sector, supporting leaders and teams to deliver sustainable performance improvement at scale.
