Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Programme
Master complex business challenges and become an elite problem solver with the Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Programme. This renowned, BQF-accredited training develops advanced data, analytical and change leadership skills to help you make a measurable business impact. Five modules, flexible entry points, exceptional results.
Introduction
Black Belts are Lean Six Sigma experts who tackle the most challenging business problems and support senior management in deploying Continuous Cmprovement thinking and methods. This 18-day programme is built from five modules covering DMAIC problem solving, leading change, data-driven decision-making and advanced analytical tools. It is structured so you can enter at the point that matches your existing level of training, and it suits engineers, analysts, quality professionals, process managers, change agents and consultants across virtually every industry.
Participants will be able to:
- Apply the DMAIC problem-solving approach to complex, high-profile business problems
- Map and measure processes, working with process data and understanding variation
- Conduct root cause analysis, generate solutions and build robust control plans
- Use Minitab software to measure, interpret and communicate process performance
- Apply advanced statistical techniques including regression, ANOVA and Design of Experiments
- Lead and facilitate change, engaging and influencing others to accept new ways of working
- Coach Green Belts and support the wider deployment of continuous improvement

Why choose this programme?
Black Belts are in high demand, with proven success often leading to progression into senior operational or internal consulting roles. This highly interactive, modular programme is delivered by experienced subject-matter experts, giving you the confidence that your development is supported by trusted specialists.
Our Black Belt programme is accredited by the British Quality Foundation, whose primary Lean Six Sigma partner is Catalyst, and is also recommended by the Chartered Quality Institute.
Delivery Information / Options
The programme is available through open enrolment as a virtual classroom course, as a supported online self study programme, or as bespoke in-company training delivered virtually or on-site. Modules can be taken in succession or spread over time, and each can be taken independently. ASQ versions and a BQF-to-ASQ bridge are also offered.
Modules in this course:
-
The programme is modular, so you can join at the point that matches your existing training level. Those new to Lean Six Sigma begin at Green Belt, while delegates who are already Green Belt trained start with the Facilitating and Leading Change module. Modules must be taken in order, except for the Facilitating and Leading Change module which can be taken at any point. The modules can also be studied separately.
-
The programme begins with the six-day Lean Six Sigma Green Belt programme. Delegates learn the full DMAIC methodology, gaining a solid grounding in the concepts and principles of Lean Six Sigma and the structured problem-solving approach needed to deliver impactful process improvements.
-
This module delivers a comprehensive toolkit for analysing and understanding process data. You’ll develop a thorough grounding in graphical and statistical analysis tools using Minitab statistical software. Topics include:
- Attribute Agreement Analysis – assess the capability of your decision making processes
- Sampling and Confidence Intervals – the right way to sample a process to ensure sound interpretation and analysis
- Statistical Process Control – interpret the behaviour of your process and the appropriate action to take to improve performance
- Assessing normality of data
- Capability Analysis – metrics to quantify performance of a stable process against customer expectations
- Hypothesis Testing – analysis tools to test theories and establish statistical significance
- Regression Analysis – model the relationship between process variables and make predictions
-
This module goes deeper into the statistical foundations of Lean Six Sigma. You’ll cover full Measurement Systems Analysis including Gauge R&R, Gauge Linearity and Stability studies, and further capability analysis including non-normal analysis. Building on the regression training from the previous course, you’ll now learn multiple regression techniques: model building, multicollinearity, curvilinear and categorical predictors, and data transformation.
-
The Advanced Black Belt Tools module builds further on the statistical toolset and adds advanced techniques which will enable you to discover and understand the factors and factor-interactions which drive process performance in almost any business environment. Topics include Design of Experiments, General Linear Model, Logistic Regression, Non-parametric Hypothesis Tests, and analysis of seasonal data.
-
This module develops the facilitation, communication and leadership skills needed to engage people and deliver sustainable change. Delegates explore how individuals and teams experience change, building the capability to guide them through uncertainty, overcome resistance and create lasting behavioural impact. Using the SIMPLE model as a framework, the programme combines practical facilitation techniques with proven approaches for gaining and sustaining commitment, enabling participants to lead operational, cultural and digital change with confidence.
