Why accreditation matters

Anyone can put “certified” on a course page. Accreditation is what sits behind that word.

An accredited certification isn’t awarded by the training provider – it’s awarded by an independent awarding body that sets the syllabus, defines the competency level and verifies that the training and assessment actually meet it. It’s another way of saying we don’t mark our own homework.

The distinction matters most at the point it’s tested: in an interview, in a tender, or in a promotion conversation. An accredited qualification is portable, verifiable and recognised by employers who know what to look for whereas a certificate from an unaccredited provider often isn’t.

Accreditation also keeps a course honest over time. The awarding bodies review provision, so the syllabus can’t drift away from what the qualification claims to be.

Not all training providers are the same

The market is crowded, and the difference between providers isn’t always visible from the outside.

The same certification title can be reached by very different routes – a one-day webinar versus a multi-day programme with assessed project work; a trainer who delivers slides versus a practitioner who has led the transformation they’re teaching. Although the certificate might look similar, the capability behind it is not.

Two questions are worth asking before you book anywhere, including with us:

Who awards the certification? If the provider issues it themselves, it carries no external endorsement.
Who teaches it, and have they done the work? Our trainers are practising consultants, still delivering improvement programmes for clients.
